Raman gains ground in L.A. mayoral count
Nithya Raman remained third in the Los Angeles mayoral primary but cut into Spencer Pratt's lead for second place. Karen Bass stayed first as later ballots continued to be counted.

Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman narrowed her gap with Spencer Pratt in the fight for a spot in the Nov. 3 mayoral runoff. Thursday's update put Mayor Karen Bass at 35%, Pratt at 29% and Raman at 23%, with Raman trailing Pratt by 33,076 votes.
The count can still shift because ballots postmarked by election day are being accepted through Tuesday. If no candidate tops 50% in the primary, the top two advance to the runoff.
