Los Angeles fan plans low cost World Cup trip through Ontario and LAX
A Los Angeles resident and his father kept a Houston World Cup trip to about $1,071 before tickets. Their route used Ontario airport, late flights, bundled bookings and public transit near the stadium.

A Los Angeles resident, identified as Xiao Chen, traveled with his father from Southern California's Ontario airport to Houston on June 13 for Germany's June 14 match against Curaçao. They returned through LAX late that night and spent $1,071.47 before match tickets on flights, one hotel night, rental car costs and local transportation.
The trip was built around cheaper late flights, a Priceline bundle, distant Park and Ride parking, buses and rail instead of expensive stadium parking or ride-hailing. After arriving at LAX, Xiao Chen used the FlyAway bus to Union Station and then a ride home, lowering a late-night airport trip that he said could have cost more than $120 by direct ride-hailing.
