Skirball sets summer concerts, films and exhibitions

Skirball Cultural Center's summer calendar includes punk and comic book exhibitions, a film event with Kathleen Hanna, and outdoor concerts. The free Sunset Concerts run four Thursdays from July 16 to Aug. 6.

The season includes the exhibition Outsiders, Outcasts, Rebels + Weirdos: Punk Culture 1976,86, a June 12 screening of The Punk Singer with Kathleen Hanna, Katherine Spillar and Cate Thurston afterward, and the exhibition Inventing America: The Comic Book Revolution. A July 2 show brings Tank and the Bangas to the center at the start of Independence Day weekend.

The 29th Sunset Concerts season runs at 7 p.m. on July 16, July 23, July 30 and Aug. 6, with galleries opening at 6 p.m. The lineup includes Cory Henry and The Funk Apostles with Katalyst, Terrace Martin with Brandee Younger, Tortoise with Kassa Overall, and Annie and The Caldwells with The Campbell Brothers.
