Becerra moves on in California governor race
Xavier Becerra secured a November spot in California's race for governor. Steve Hilton was narrowly positioned for the other slot as vote counting continued.

Democrat Xavier Becerra won one of the two November slots in California's governor primary, putting him closer to a possible historic win as the state's first elected Latino governor. The election will decide who replaces Gov. Gavin Newsom, who cannot seek another term.
Republican Steve Hilton held a slim edge for second place, while Tom Steyer faced long odds after spending heavily from his own funds. More ballots were still being counted after the June 2 election under California's system that sends the top two finishers to November.
