San Clemente tow company settles vehicle case involving service members
S&K Towing agreed to pay about $160,000 to service members after federal prosecutors accused it of improperly selling or disposing of vehicles tied to Camp Pendleton. The case involved protections for active duty military members.

San Clemente based S&K Towing reached a settlement with federal prosecutors over claims that it sold, auctioned or disposed of 148 vehicles owned by active duty service members stationed at Camp Pendleton. The alleged violations covered a period beginning in August 2020.
The company agreed to pay about $160,000 to affected military personnel. Prosecutors said the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act required the company to check military status and obtain a court order before enforcing liens on covered vehicles.
