Tacos Royale opens in Silver Lake
Chef Saúl Pérez García is opening Tacos Royale as a Hermosillo style street stand on West Sunset Boulevard. The Silver Lake spot starts with charcoal grilled steak tacos and plans to add burritos next week.
Tacos Royale opens Friday, June 5, in a parking lot at 2511 W. Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake. Chef Saúl Pérez García, whose past work includes Atla, Ceviche Project and La Hija del Marondo, is running the Hermosillo inspired stand with cousin and partner Eloy Aluri.
The first menu centers on USDA Prime diezmillo cooked over charcoal, flour tortillas made from Pérez's Sonorancali recipe, beans, beef cracklings and a salsa bar based on Hermosillo asadero staples. Hours are Thursday through Sunday, 6 p.m. to midnight, with burritos expected to begin next week.
